About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver exceptional and consistent customer experiences
  • Handle customer inquiries through inbound and outbound calls and written communication
  • Resolve complex billing and insurance issues for patients, law offices, insurance companies, and outside facilities
  • Resolve patient account balances that are aging but have not been sent for collections
  • Answer questions about deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays, denials, charge disputes, claim resubmissions, eligibility, and coding disputes
  • Review financial information and recommend payment options or assistance programs
  • Manage consumer objections and concerns and negotiate payment resolutions
  • Discuss payment resources and make referrals to clients when necessary
  • Use required scripts and guidelines to maximize recovery on each call
  • Maintain understanding of account requirements and related documentation
  • Document accounts with accurate notes and codes
  • Work within internal and client systems
  • Meet or exceed KPIs, including calls handled per hour, successful payment resolution, and call quality
  • Follow company and client policies, procedures, applicable laws, Core Values, and Strategic Anchors
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Prior work experience in a call center and healthcare customer service setting preferred
  • Familiarity with Artiva and Cerner Soarian preferred; EPIC experience is a plus but not required
  • Working knowledge of medical billing and coding preferred
  • Prior work experience in a medical office and/or general understanding of health insurance preferred
  • Clear verbal and written communication, proper grammar, and telephone etiquette
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer applications and databases
  • Moderate to advanced computer keyboard typing and navigation skills
  • Ability to communicate on the phone while navigating multiple computer systems simultaneously
  • Ability to overcome patient objections and negotiate payment successfully
  • Reliable and responsible; arrives on time and uses time productively and efficiently
  • Ability to manage oneself effectively in a work-from-home environment
  • Professional judgment and client business acumen
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information and Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • Self-motivation and commitment to career success
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
