About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Understand Rex Moore’s pre-award processes and client services
- Review bid documents to define scope, identify risks, research requirements, and mitigate new risks
- Establish client expectations and define scope expectations
- Prepare detailed cost estimates covering defined scope
- Perform accurate material takeoffs for electrical systems
- Plan and coordinate estimating with vendors, subcontractors, subconsultants, and clients
- Obtain quotes for lighting, power distribution, generators, and other items
- Review vendor quote inclusions and exclusions, select compliant bids, and request revisions when needed
- Enter material takeoffs into Accubid
- Work with internal Low Voltage and Fire Alarm estimators
- Enter project information into recap sheets for supervisor review and approval
- Schedule and attend estimate reviews with the preconstruction director and regional project executive
- Follow up with clients after bids are submitted to obtain information on bid outcomes
- Complete project award handoff of scope, proposal, and budget to the project management team
- Compile bid documents, quotes, schedules, budgets, and related items
- Complete project briefs
- Support the PM team with scope definition and supporting documentation
- Follow up with clients regarding alternates, pending contracts, and releases
- Maintain client and third-party relationships through the contract award process
- Typically work in an office environment, with occasional worksite visits and client meetings
- Report to the Preconstruction Director in the Pre-Award department
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced knowledge and understanding of electrical systems and applications in the commercial and industrial environment
- Ability to interface comfortably with key personnel from the General Contractors team
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specs (electrical and other trades as they pertain to electrical scope)
- Thorough knowledge of Bluebeam, Accubid, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Dynamics
- Willing to work in a potentially fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet deadlines with accurate takeoffs and proposals across complex and/or multiple concurrent estimates
- Detail orientated
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work within a team setting
- Ability to effectively communicate your takeoff approach to other team members and external people
- Ability to start, build and maintain relationships with clients and 3rd parties such as architects and engineers
- Willingness to mentor junior team members
- Ability to verbally communicate detailed and accurate instructions and information
- Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information
- Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry at least 10 pounds
- Ability to walk and stand frequently
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs, and wear appropriate PPE for infrequent site visits
- Visual acuity with or without correction to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proof-read documents
- Ability to use fingers and hands to type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach
- May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch
- When on worksites, must wear PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots, and high viz vest/shirt
