Field Technical Services Specialist
RHI Magnesita. Serve as the primary technical resource for customer equipment and operational issues .
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary technical resource for customer equipment and operational issues
- Troubleshoot flow control equipment and identify root causes of performance challenges
- Conduct on-site assessments and periodic customer visits to evaluate equipment condition and operating practices
- Develop recommendations to improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety
- Review customer storage practices for refractory materials and spare parts
- Support installation, startup, and commissioning of flow control systems and related equipment
- Partner with Sales and Engineering teams to plan and execute customer trials and project implementations
- Monitor new equipment installations to ensure successful startup and operational readiness
- Coordinate technical support activities and provide guidance during key project milestones
- Deliver technical training on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures
- Build customer relationships through proactive communication and technical consultation
- Help customers maximize the value, performance, and longevity of installed equipment
- Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, Quality, and Product Management teams on product improvement and new product development
- Provide field feedback and customer insights for equipment innovation and performance enhancements
- Mentor and support less experienced technical service personnel as needed
- Travel frequently to customer sites across North America for installations, commissioning, equipment evaluations, training, and ongoing technical service
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent with technical training in mechanical maintenance or a related field
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to travel extensively to customer locations throughout North America
- Ability to work safely in industrial manufacturing environments
- Preferred: Experience supporting industrial equipment within steel manufacturing, metals, refractory, or other heavy industrial environments
- Preferred: Experience with commissioning, field service, maintenance, or technical support activities
- Preferred: Knowledge of steel mill operations and production processes
- Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- Preferred: Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, operations, and commercial teams
