About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the intelligence layer powering Risepoint's engagement with students throughout their journey
  • Lead end-to-end AI/ML initiatives from scoping and design through cross-functional implementation and measurable outcomes
  • Deliver the “Next Best Experience” predictive engine for personalized, timely student outreach
  • Drive retention, engagement, enrollment conversion, and pipeline efficiency outcomes
  • Coordinate across Product, Engineering, CX, and university partner teams
  • Identify and scope new AI/ML opportunities and advocate for prioritization with leadership
  • Manage key vendor and software-provider relationships as a workstream leader
  • Build and deploy predictive models for churn risk, engagement propensity, and success likelihood
  • Lead next-best-action logic design and production deployment
  • Prototype, test, and productionize models using Databricks, MLFlow, dbt, and Dagster
  • Partner with data engineers on reliable pipelines and feature stores
  • Derive behavioral insights from speech analytics and structured CRM/LMS data
  • Design and lead A/B testing programs and make ship, iterate, or stop decisions
  • Establish feedback loops and production performance monitoring for continuous model improvement
  • Translate technical findings into executive-ready narratives
  • Mentor teammates through code reviews, pair work, and knowledge-sharing
  • Improve pipelines, feature documentation, shipping velocity, and team technical standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable consumer and business impact through AI/ML initiatives, including scoping, managing implementation, and owning outcomes end-to-end
  • Experience as a workstream leader designing, managing, and delivering AI/ML projects in a cross-functional environment
  • 5–8+ years in applied machine learning or data science
  • Background in predictive analytics, recommendation systems, and experimentation, including A/B testing, causal inference, and uplift modeling
  • Deep expertise in Python and SQL
  • Proficiency with scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
  • Experience with Databricks, MLFlow, dbt, and Dagster, or demonstrated ability to ramp quickly on a modern MLOps stack
  • Comfort working with complex, multi-source datasets, including CRM, LMS, communication logs, and speech analytics
  • Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences, including executives
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, statistics, econometrics, mathematics, or engineering
  • PhD in a technical discipline is valued but not required
  • Experience in education, consumer tech, personalization, or a complex behavioral domain is ideal
  • Experience in higher education, edtech, or student success platforms is desirable
  • Prior work building or operationalizing next best action or propensity-to-engage models at scale is desirable
