About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform duties under the direction or supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or registered nurse
- Conduct focused patient assessments, including vital signs and gathering data
- Implement established plans of care and evaluate treatment effectiveness
- Complete required clinical documentation according to RHS standards
- Maintain quality-assurance documentation, including point-of-care testing, medication logs, and annual wellness visits
- Work with providers to address patient care gaps
- Perform laboratory functions and monitor OSHA and lab proficiency testing
- Maintain clean, compliant, and well-stocked work areas
- Provide patient education, including instruction about prescribed medications
- Explain registration and medical-history forms and their relevance to patient care
- Follow up urgently on lab calls, patient calls, prescription fills and refills, referrals, and appointment scheduling
- Answer telephone calls from patients, pharmacies, physicians, and vendors by close of business
- Communicate lab/pathology results and schedule additional tests per provider orders
- Perform insurance pre-authorization for prescription drugs, procedures, and patient tests
- Build collaborative relationships with a multidisciplinary team and participate in assigned team meetings
- Rotate among all urgent care locations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from the Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP), required upon hire
- CPR/BLS Certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute, required upon hire
- 1 year nursing experience (preferred)
- Program Graduate, Licensed Practical Nurse (preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred)
- Willingness to work weekend shifts
- Willingness to work irregular shifts
- Ability to work/float in more than one work location
