About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform patient care, technical, and clerical functions under physician and practice manager supervision
Support clinic patient flow and provide health care services while maintaining quality and safe care
Float to other practices within the region as needed
Update, verify, and maintain patient records; interview patients and confirm visit purposes
Prepare patients for examinations and obtain vital signs
Prepare and sanitize examination rooms
Administer medications and vaccines under physician supervision
Process prescription refill requests and forward them to pharmacies
Maintain medical inventory, stock examination rooms, and keep equipment operational
Ensure compliance with scope-of-practice, HIPAA, and OSHA standards
Complete required competencies and education
Liaise between physicians and patients; support patients and families during visits and procedures, including chaperoning sensitive examinations
Provide timely customer service, patient follow-up, appointment and referral assistance, and patient education
Collect specimens, perform phlebotomy and point-of-care testing, process and send specimens to laboratories
Manage point-of-care logs and document testing in the electronic health record
Obtain preauthorizations and prior authorizations
Follow insurance carrier guidelines and Medicare regulations
Apply ICD9 and CPT coding knowledge
Schedule tests and specialist visits within network limitations
Support productivity and quality-measure goals

1 year Clinical experience (Preferred)
