About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Check in and check out patients
- Verify insurance eligibility
- Enter and update patient demographics in patient registration software
- Greet patients and answer multi-phone lines
- Schedule and reschedule appointments
- Create and schedule referrals
- Complete chart preparation and provide information to patients
- Collect payments for appointments, forms, or past-due balances
- Monitor daily schedules and handle schedule changes
- Prepare and print consents, receipts, visit summaries, and other visit-related documents
- Maintain referrals and insurance information and obtain authorizations as necessary
- Recommend process improvements to the practice manager
- Maintain reception-area appearance and cleanliness
- Participate in team huddles and staff meetings
- Float to other practices within the region as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED, Minimum (Required)
- 1 year Medical Office experience (Preferred)
- Experience with patient registration software
- Ability to verify insurance eligibility and authorizations
- Ability to schedule and reschedule appointments and referrals
- Ability to answer multi-phone lines and use proper telephone etiquette
- Ability to collect patient payments
- Ability to complete clerical chart preparation and prepare visit-related documents
