About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Remain available during agreed coverage hours for contact by the RMI Global Coordination Centre (GCC)
  • Deploy to predefined medical facilities to meet and greet RMI patients within one hour of notification or other agreed timeframe
  • Coordinate with the GCC regarding payment methods and mediate between medical facilities and the GCC when applicable
  • Ensure swift access to care and resolve problems pragmatically and professionally
  • Translate from the local dialect to English in verbal and written forms for the GCC
  • Deploy daily to medical facilities during protracted inpatient stays
  • Manage patient welfare throughout admission, ensuring comfort, treatment understanding, and reasonable support requests
  • Establish relationships with treating physicians and obtain current information from the medical team
  • Provide timely written and verbal patient status and care-plan updates to the GCC
  • Liaise professionally with client management
  • Use local knowledge to arrange additional services as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a medical healthcare professional in the area of operation
  • Bilingual in the local language and dialect (as per area of operation) and English
  • Experience providing patient advocacy in remote/international areas preferred
  • Foreign travel experience
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism
  • Demonstrated self-discipline
  • Ability to integrate into a cross-cultural social structure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer and technology literacy preferred
  • Valid driver’s license for the area of operation preferred
