About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process semi-monthly and biweekly payroll across multiple states and entities
- Support and execute payroll changes, including complex pay calculations, adjustments, deductions, compensation updates, employee status changes, address/work location changes, and wage garnishments
- Execute time and attendance processing and ensure seamless integration with payroll systems
- Review payroll outputs for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Respond to employee inquiries and collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues
- Support payroll tax compliance, including tax notices, unemployment tax rates, new state tax registrations, filings, remittances, and U.S. payroll regulations
- Audit 401(k) deferrals each pay cycle and prepare control totals
- Assist with payroll audits, reporting, employment verifications, and administrative tasks
- Assist with special projects, process improvements, documentation, and payroll procedure updates
- Support year-end payroll activities
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency and collaborate with the Sr. Payroll Manager on recommendations to senior management
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of hands-on-payroll experience, ideally in a high-growth or complex environment
- Prior experience processing payroll across multiple entities and jurisdictions
- Experience with end-to-end payroll and timekeeping processes, resolving related issues, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations
- Strong organizational, problem solving, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to cultivate effective working relationships both remotely and in-person and communicate cross-functionally across all levels of management
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions, pivot tables, and macros
- Experience with payroll systems such as UKG is a plus
