About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct client interviews to collect necessary information and explain procedural requirements for U-Certs and related visa filings.
- Prepare forms, petitions, and supporting documents for filing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with immigration laws.
- Conduct legal research on relevant immigration laws, policies, and regulations.
- File applications with appropriate government agencies according to procedural guidelines and deadlines.
- Oversee and manage case files, track deadlines, and organize client information throughout the immigration process.
- Maintain client communication and provide case status updates and procedural clarifications.
- Assist with filing, scheduling, and other immigration case management tasks.
- Monitor changes in immigration laws and policies to ensure case compliance.
- Develop legal knowledge and skills through training, research, and team collaboration.
- Report directly to the Immigration Department Supervisor.
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 1-2 years of experience in immigration law, specifically with non-immigrant and immigrant visa filings, such as U-Certs and other USCIS petitions.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) with high proficiency in both written and spoken communication.
- Previous experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or in another legal capacity.
- Familiarity with family-based petitions, humanitarian visas, EOIR procedures, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS applications is a plus.
- Experience with case management software and other legal tools to manage client files efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
