About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide senior-level guidance on employment matters
  • Lead significant legal and compliance initiatives
  • Manage litigation, regulatory matters, dispute resolution, and outside counsel
  • Potentially supervise attorneys or other legal administrative personnel
  • Advise business leaders and Human Resources on employment law matters affecting a nationwide staffing and talent solutions organization
  • Handle workplace investigations, accommodations, leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, employee classification, restrictive covenants, and trade secret matters
  • Build relationships and partner with Human Resources, business leaders, outside counsel, and other stakeholders
  • Assess risk and support sound decision-making
  • Develop legally compliant and operationally workable solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • At least seven (7) years of employment law experience
  • Experience preferably combining law firm and in-house experience
  • Experience advising on harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower matters
  • Experience with wage and hour compliance and litigation, including state-specific employment laws
  • Experience with restrictive covenants, including noncompetition, non-solicitation, confidentiality, and trade secret issues
  • Experience with employment policies, investigations, and workplace accommodations
  • Experience counseling multi-state employers on workplace compliance, employee relations, and risk mitigation
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate legal requirements into practical guidance for business and Human Resources stakeholders
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and provide timely, clear legal advice in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience advising and managing disputes for staffing companies strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with staffing-industry employment law issues, including joint employment, contingent workforce arrangements, client complaints involving contractors, restrictive covenants, and multi-jurisdictional compliance is a significant advantage
  • Successful completion of a background check is required as a condition of employment
