About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary scientific and technical authority for Roche’s cobas i601 automated mass spectrometry solution in customer laboratories
  • Consult with clinical laboratory directors, pathologists, and LC-MS specialists to drive scientific adoption and market trust
  • Partner with the commercial sales team on pre-sales technical presentations, methodology questions, demonstrations, and buyer adoption
  • Guide assay implementation, verification, validation, and regulatory compliance using CLSI, CAP, CLIA, and ISO requirements
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and support customer satisfaction
  • Assist with installation of mass spectrometry instrumentation, automated front-end sample preparation, and software applications
  • Validate system performance against manufacturer specifications
  • Deliver on-site training covering operation, maintenance, mass spectrometry theory, QC, calibration, and automated data interpretation
  • Troubleshoot complex analytical, software, and hardware issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Collect customer feedback for R&D and commercial leadership
  • Follow Roche protocols, maintain CRM records, and complete travel and expense administration

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology or Clinical Laboratory or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience implementing and evaluating complex laboratory, IT products, medical diagnostic equipment, reagents and/or systems
  • Preferred: 3+ years of direct, hands-on experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting mass spectrometry platforms (LC-MS/MS) in a clinical, reference, or diagnostic laboratory setting
  • In-depth understanding of mass spectrometry fundamentals, including triple-quadrupole systems, ESI/APCI ionization techniques, chromatographic separations, sample preparation techniques, and quantitative data analysis
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Preferred advanced degree: Master’s or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related clinical science with a focus on LC-MS/MS
  • Preferred clinical certifications: Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (ASCP/AMT) or Board Certification in Clinical Chemistry / Toxicological Chemistry
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, FDA, and CLSI validation guidelines as applied to clinical mass spectrometry and LDTs/IVDs
  • Prior pre-sales support, application consulting, or customer-facing experience explaining novel diagnostic platforms
  • Experience with automated liquid handling, integrated automated front-end sample preparation, or automated clinical chemistry/immunoassay systems
  • Proven ability to independently diagnose complex analytical, chromatographic, or hardware issues
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
