About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a core member of the interdisciplinary care team for pediatric palliative care patients and families in home and community settings
- Develop and deliver child life support addressing developmental, emotional, and psychosocial needs
- Assess developmental and psychosocial needs and coping styles of children and siblings
- Develop, implement, and evaluate child life service plans
- Provide medical play, expressive techniques, education, procedural support, developmental support, and psychosocial interventions
- Promote safe and nurturing environments in homes, schools, and community settings
- Provide developmentally appropriate diagnostic teaching and caregiver education
- Facilitate expressive and therapeutic play, grief, bereavement, memory-making, and legacy work
- Advocate for children and families and communicate their goals to the care team
- Plan age-appropriate programming supporting peer support and reducing isolation
- Document communications and interventions
- Participate in Interdisciplinary Group meetings
- Meet department productivity standards
- Collaborate with facility-based child life staff to promote consistent care
- Maintain privacy, integrity, attendance, and compliance with organizational policies
- Perform other functions as assigned by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification from the Association of Child Life Professionals is required
- Minimum of 3 years related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in child life, psychology, child development, or human service required
- Must have ability to travel
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
- Basic computer skills, including Windows-based operating environments, email, and basic electronic documents
- Ability to learn and utilize new systems, computer applications, and operating environments with training
- Valid licensure, physical readiness, and flexibility for extended or on-call schedules are typically required for this clinical category
