Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS: Physician Assistant (Required)
  • PA-C certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • RPA registration with the NYS Office of Professions
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and manage sleep disorders
  • Ability to develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide patient and family education
  • Ability to coordinate care with physicians, behavioral health providers, specialists, and community resources
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation, coding, and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Ability to meet moderate clinical physical requirements, including standing, walking, lifting 20–50 lbs., pushing and pulling medical equipment, and assisting with patient positioning
  • Ability to perform frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and fine motor tasks
  • High sensory acuity and ability to monitor patient status and respond to alarms or safety concerns
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure, respond to emergencies, and maintain sustained focus
  • Ability to work around infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation
  • TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements
