About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments using physical, psychological, educational, and risk-screen data
- Exercise clinical judgment in responding to priority patient needs
- Communicate and document patient assessments with the interdisciplinary team
- Develop and document individualized plans of care, treatment, and services
- Provide care, treatment, and services in collaboration with the interdisciplinary health team
- Maintain appropriate nurse-patient relationships and comply with safety, medication administration, and documentation protocols
- Initiate and document patient and family education using the teach-back method
- Evaluate and document patient responses to care and revise plans accordingly
- Lead care delivery through communication, collaboration, and leadership
- Delegate responsibilities to nurses and ancillary staff, train or precept new team members, and participate in problem-solving
- Identify performance improvement opportunities and participate in evidence-based practice
- Complete a clinical research utilization form using a recent United States research article
- Complete continuing education, mandatory in-services, health screens, and maintain BLS certification
Requirements
What you’ll need- Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
- Registered Nurse license in New York State
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience
- Must live within 1 hour of Riedman Center
- Schedule availability for days, evenings, nights, weekends, every other weekend, and split holidays
- Ability to complete in-person training for 8 weeks
- Ability to complete at least 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year
- Ability to complete mandatory in-services and health screens in a timely manner
- Ability to maintain BLS certification
- Ability to perform moderate clinical physical duties, including standing, walking, lifting 20–50 lbs., pushing and pulling medical equipment, and assisting with patient positioning
