About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products
Develop software tools, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools
Determine software compatibility with hardware and influence software design in relation to hardware
Make component changes
Build subject matter expertise within the current product domain
Link work to the external market
Deliver well-structured, tested, and documented code within agreed timelines
Provide reasonably accurate work estimates
Participate in required meetings and agile ceremonies
Provide test coverage to protect against future changes
Report to the Manager, Software Engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Good understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures, acquired through education and/or experience
Excellent programming skills
Proficiency in complex programming and standard data structures and algorithms
Ability to make recommendations when solving technical problems
Ability to write modular, maintainable code with some guidance
Ability to make efficient technical trade-offs
Ability to recognize the impact software changes have on systems
Understanding of hardware principles for design decisions
Ability to translate requirements into code
Mastery of one or more programming languages
Excellent code design skills
Track record of real-world software development
Preferred: ability to write code faster than the average developer
Preferred: outstanding quality with few bugs in generated code
Travel requirement: 0–10%
