About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build new EHR and clearinghouse integrations with ambulatory EHRs such as Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and Elation
- Use FHIR, HL7v2, and EDI standards to design and implement integrations
- Harden existing connections with observability, alerting, and automated failure recovery
- Participate in shared on-call responsibilities for integration incidents
- Build tooling to accelerate incident response and clarify root-cause analysis
- Design and maintain pipelines ingesting, transforming, and delivering clinical, scheduling, billing, and claims data
- Ensure pipeline latency, correctness, and schema evolution are carefully managed
- Partner with product and engineering teams on data-driven customer-facing features
- Ensure accurate, timely, and usable data reaches the platform
- Define standards for connection design, error handling, retries, and monitoring
- Document integration decisions and build extensible systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience as an integration engineer, software engineer, or related discipline
- Strong Python programming skills; comfort reading and writing production-grade backend code
- Experience building and operating production data pipelines, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response
- Experience working in small teams with end-to-end ownership and limited process
- Strong communication skills
- Nice to have: Strong command of FHIR, HL7v2, and X12 EDI
- Nice to have: Clearinghouse or EDI experience, including X12 835/837 claim submission and remittance workflows
- Nice to have: Experience with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery or Snowflake
- Nice to have: Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS or GCP
- Nice to have: Prior experience at a healthcare tech, RCM, or practice management company
- Nice to have: Familiarity with SMART on FHIR or OAuth-based EHR app frameworks
