About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work on software development projects within AI
  • Develop AI-powered solutions that enhance software quality, security, delivery velocity, and engineering efficiency
  • Collaborate with experienced software engineers, AI champions, architects, and engineering leaders
  • Contribute to real-world projects supporting enterprise-scale industrial automation software development
  • Work with development teams in software development environments using development techniques
  • Gain exposure to the full development life cycle, agile methodology, system design, test-driven development, test automation, and build and configuration management
  • Build software applications, services, and integrations using modern software engineering practices and AI technologies
  • Participate in networking events and company activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; Rockwell Automation will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
  • Must be available full-time, for 6-8 months (either January-August 2027 or June-December 2027)
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Graduating in May 2028 or later (December 2027 if co-op starts in January 2027)
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Angular/Node, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript (Typescript), Kotlin, Go, or Python
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools, LLMs, AI agents, machine learning concepts, or prompt engineering is a plus
  • Some experience in Angular, React, and modern web application frameworks
  • Familiarity with GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Services, and cloud-native technologies
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, and test automation frameworks
  • Experience in industrial automation software, PLC development, and manufacturing technologies
