About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the architecture of the edge runtime, including process model, camera pipeline, inference scheduling, and resource budgets
Design and maintain the edge-to-cloud communication layer, including reconnection, buffering, and degraded-network behavior
Own the control interface between inspection results and the PLC, including timing and determinism requirements
Drive throughput, latency, and memory performance against real multi-camera production loads
Simplify and consolidate the edge codebase and set standards for its structure and testing
Act as a technical resource for edge and systems design decisions across the product
Partner with DevOps on provisioning, updates, and rollback for edge devices in the field
Report to the Director, Software Engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
Legal authorization to work in the US is required
Employer will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Typically requires 8+ years of related experience in a software product development environment (preferred)
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline (preferred)
Experience architecting and shipping systems software that runs on constrained or embedded targets
Experience owning performance and reliability for a real-time or near-real-time system
Depth in C++, Rust, Go, or Python for systems-level work on Linux
Experience with containerized or immutable Linux deployments on edge hardware
Experience with camera, sensor, or other high-rate device interfaces and pipelines
Experience with industrial control interfaces such as PLC, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, or equivalent fieldbus protocols
Experience with edge-to-cloud messaging patterns and behavior under intermittent connectivity
Track record simplifying an inherited codebase and measurably improving its performance
