About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and oversee the importing process, exporting process, and client invoicing
  • Communicate with clients, customs authorities, carriers, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Review import documentation for accuracy and customs compliance
  • Oversee efficient and compliant customs clearance of imported goods
  • Bill clients and vet vendor payments according to company policy
  • Prepare, review, and process export documentation
  • Create export bills of lading and send them to appropriate parties
  • Ensure export transactions comply with international and domestic regulations, export controls, sanctions, and licensing requirements
  • Create export bookings and ensure cargo moves timely to meet export cutoffs
  • Coordinate trucking movements as needed
  • Submit EEI filings and shipping instructions to carriers
  • Resolve customs delays, document discrepancies, and transportation-provider issues
  • Provide status updates and facilitate import/export processes
  • Generate and maintain import-related shipment notes for clients
  • Collaborate with customs brokers, import support specialists, and team members
  • Train team members and develop, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Understanding of import procedures and freight forwarding export processes
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to solve import and export-related challenges
  • Ability to serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients and maintain client relationships
  • Ability to review commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and certificates of origin
  • General awareness of customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements
  • Ability to prepare, review, and process export documentation
  • Ability to create export bills of lading and bookings
  • Knowledge of freight routing and export cutoffs
  • Ability to correspond with carriers and ensure booking accuracy
  • Ability to coordinate trucking movements
