About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment
- Identify and determine priority of patients’ problems and needs
- Evaluate the process and outcome of nursing care
- Coordinate, provide, and direct patient teaching activities
- Coordinate care provided by health team members
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments with the interdisciplinary care team
- Analyze assessment data and create plans of care
- Implement treatment and evaluate treatment effectiveness
- Administer medications safely according to state practice and organizational policies
- Serve as point of contact for patient care coordination throughout hospital departments
- Participate in ongoing departmental quality improvement as a patient safety advocate
- Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery
- Work four 10-hour day shifts per week with a rotating day off
- Participate in required call coverage
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 1 year RN experience
- BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
- Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required)
- Associate of Nursing, nursing (required) OR Diploma in Nursing (required)
- Graduate of accredited school of cardiovascular science, or graduate from accredited school of Radiologic Technology (RT), or meets education provisions required to obtain RCIS through CCI and SC Board of Medical Examiners and has already received those credentials
- RCIS: Minimum amount of experience to get required licensure/certifications/registrations outlined below is required
- Active Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Registration with the SC Board of Medical Examiners
- Active RCIS certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider
- RTs must also be registered in Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART)
- Knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and future innovations
- Nursing judgment and skill based on principles of the biological, physical, behavioral, and social sciences
- Application of the nursing process in patient care delivery
- Coordination of patient care delivery
- Evaluation of professional nursing practice to optimize goals and outcomes
- Health teaching and health promotion
- Patient advocacy and partnership
- Interprofessional collaboration and leadership
- Understanding and utilization of office and clinical technologies
- Integration of quality improvement, evidence based practices and research in practice
- Authority for delegating activities to others while remaining responsible and accountable for outcomes
