About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide complete oversight for the direction, planning, management and ongoing engineering operations on a regional basis
  • Provide input on strategic decision-making and processes to the VP, Engineering and other Directors and Officers
  • Report directly to the Senior Director or Vice President, Engineering
  • Participate in senior manager planning for engineering, detailing/modeling and principal engineering work
  • Develop and oversee regional Engineering operations
  • Anticipate, plan and map group, team and staff skills to the work
  • Recruit, train and deploy staff throughout the region
  • Oversee HR and budgets for the Regional Engineering group
  • Develop proposals and meet, present and secure work on behalf of the firm
  • Direct preliminary engineering activities, including project development, programming and schematic design
  • Direct project close-out, installation or manufacturing QA/QC, testing and commissioning operations
  • Act as the firm’s emissary for dispute resolution or sensitive client work and negotiations
  • Work independently based on the operating business plan and financial controls
  • Develop complete action plans from executive-level guidance for required deliverables or projects
  • Develop or oversee complex project-specific work, including sequences of operations, equipment/system testing scripts and complex engineering products
  • Visit project locations to ascertain existing conditions, perform feasibility studies, test factory-built systems and conduct field investigations
  • Conduct value engineering evaluations
  • Evaluate project/system design criteria against budgetary issues
  • Support Pre-Construction efforts in Estimating and Business Development
  • Identify and develop leads and close new work
  • Maintain external customer relationships throughout projects
  • Review contract requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced knowledge of all aspects of building systems electrical engineering, manufacturing or technology
  • Advanced management skills, including work planning, resource management, fee development, staff oversight, staff development and advancement planning
  • Advanced knowledge of equipment and system testing and commissioning
  • Ability to analyze and resolve technically complex engineering problems
  • Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive and effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, vendors, clients, Trade Partners and others
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in electrical engineering, architectural engineering, construction sciences, or related discipline
  • Typically requires 12 years of related work experience; combination of education, training and relevant experience permitted
  • Registration as a licensed US-based Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Ability to perform duties involving sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing and bending
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
