About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical engineering information and assistance to ensure compliance with project requirements, engineering standards, applicable codes, and specifications
  • Oversee engineers, designers, and staff on projects or individual initiatives
  • Serve as Engineer of Record for assigned projects
  • Supervise, review, comment on, and process equipment and system submittals
  • Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical trades
  • Oversee designs for power, lighting, and auxiliary systems
  • Prepare power system single-line diagrams and equipment elevations
  • Conduct or supervise short circuit, over-current protection coordination, and Arc Flash studies
  • Conduct or supervise distribution analysis, including voltage drop, voltage droop, and Neher-McGrath calculations
  • Oversee project specifications and equipment buy-out
  • Visit job sites to survey existing electrical conditions
  • Use engineering analysis programs and professional judgment to analyze loads, lighting levels, and short circuit currents
  • Conduct value engineering exercises to evaluate construction costs
  • Attend project design team meetings and interface with clients, architects, and mechanical contractors/engineers
  • Coordinate design criteria with budgetary issues and deliverable schedules alongside the Project Manager
  • Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors during installation
  • Generate project specifications and complete sequences of operations
  • Support equipment and system testing and commissioning
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to high-tech, mission-critical health industry, commercial, industrial, high-rise residential, and other facilities
  • Review plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates
  • Coordinate projects with city, state, county officials, and outside agencies
  • Oversee plans and specifications, establish schedules, and coordinate electrical engineering work
  • Prepare building commissioning documentation
  • Resolve complex design, materials, coordination, and technical issues
  • Mentor and train other staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of Engineering Experience
  • One-year on-site field experience strongly encouraged
  • Licensure as a US-based Professional Engineer is required
  • Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering subjects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, energy conservation, value engineering, applicable codes, standards, etc.
  • Proficient in Autodesk, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), Illumination software, and Oracle software pertaining to Engineering Productivity and CAC generation
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, staff, vendors, clients, and others
  • Up to 50% travel, excluding local field visits
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
