About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and requirements
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoffs and entering them into the computer estimating system
Review estimate printouts for accuracy and completeness
Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors and solicit and review quotes
Itemize and quantify incidentals for bid packages, including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies
Guide personnel preparing completion matrix disciplines for assigned bids
Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs with Senior Estimators
Compile and execute scope of work, technical requirements, and pricing
Present estimated bid packages to the Lead Estimator, Estimating Manager, and/or Chief Estimator
Support project turnover by explaining estimates, scope, quotes, and project details to the project management team
Complete client-required documents on time
Prepare scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
Maintain working-document files supporting estimating assumptions and methodologies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 3 years of experience estimating data centers and/or commercial construction projects, preferably in electrical construction
Proficient in Accubid estimating
Proficient in CAD or 3D software preferred
Advanced knowledge of the assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control
Ability to interpret computerized cost data and electrical systems
Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents
Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
Oral and written communication skills as required for the position
Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, vendors, clients, and others
Willingness to travel up to 10%
