About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical engineering design, consultation, information, and assistance to internal and external customers under direct supervision
- Oversee or collaborate with Designers assigned to the work or team
- Review, comment on, and process equipment and system submittals
- Coordinate between civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, operations, field teams, and electrical trades
- Prepare designs, check, and specify power, lighting, and auxiliary systems for PV, DG, BESS, or MV systems
- Develop power single-line diagrams
- Develop and model short circuits and overcurrent protection device coordination studies
- Assist with feeder schedules, cable-loss calculations, and energy-production modeling under senior-engineer supervision
- Coordinate work with project specifications and equipment manufacturers
- Visit job sites to survey existing electrical conditions under supervision
- Use engineering analysis programs to analyze loads, lighting levels, and short-circuit currents
- Participate in project team meetings and interface with team members, architects, subcontractors, and engineers from other trades
- Work with the engineering supervisor on design criteria and budgetary issues
- Assist with drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors
- Assist with reviewing plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates
- Assist senior engineers with field observations, design interpretations, and design updates during construction
Requirements
What you’ll need- Entry-level engineering position
- Ability to learn Engineering Analytic programs for short circuits, overcurrent coordination, and arc flash mitigation, e.g., SKM, E-Tap, etc.
- Develop familiarity with codes and energy efficiency requirements
- Ability to learn and become competent in AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Map3D, Autodesk Civil3D, Google Earth, PVsyst, PVcase, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), and Illuminance software
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under the supervisor’s direction
- Ability to work to meet deadlines and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
- Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architectural engineering, construction sciences, or equivalent experience
- Currently working on Engineering in Training from the National Council of Engineering Examiners (NCEES)
- Combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be accepted
- Up to 10% travel, excluding local field visits
