About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical engineering information and support to senior engineers
  • Ensure projects comply with project requirements, engineering standards, applicable codes, and specifications
  • Oversee junior engineers, designers, and assigned staff
  • Lead projects of limited scope
  • Review, comment on, and process equipment and system submittals with the Engineer of Record
  • Generate electrical specifications
  • Develop accurate sequences of operation for electrical systems
  • Support equipment and system testing, startup, and commissioning
  • Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical disciplines
  • Prepare and review power distribution system designs, including power, lighting, grounding, and auxiliary systems
  • Prepare power system single-line diagrams, including feeder sizing, overcurrent protection selection, and equipment layouts
  • Perform short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, and equipment rating studies
  • Develop and maintain SCCAF models using ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EasyPower, or equivalent software
  • Produce technical reports and recommendations on system protection, selective coordination, equipment adequacy, and arc flash mitigation
  • Perform voltage drop, voltage regulation, conductor sizing, distribution capacity, underground heat effects, and fault current calculations
  • Coordinate study results with specifications, equipment procurement, and construction requirements
  • Visit jobsites for field surveys, electrical data collection, and verification of existing conditions
  • Evaluate system performance, fault currents, loading conditions, and protective device operation
  • Conduct value engineering evaluations and recommend cost-effective solutions
  • Attend design meetings with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, commissioning teams, and utility representatives
  • Research and resolve technical issues, drawing discrepancies, interference conditions, and constructability concerns
  • Represent engineering during construction and commissioning to resolve field issues and implement study recommendations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architectural engineering, construction sciences, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of Engineering Experience
  • May have completed Engineer-In-Training and is encouraged to pursue registration as a Professional Engineer
  • LEED AP® is desired
  • Working electrical engineering knowledge, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, energy conservation, and value engineering
  • Fully competent in the majority of Engineer I skills
  • Proficiency in analytics programs for short circuit, over-current coordination, and arc flash analysis
  • Fluency with the Codes
  • Working knowledge of energy efficiency requirements
  • Proficient in Autodesk, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), and illumination software
  • High-rise residential, commercial, and data center experience is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing requirements
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, vendors, clients, and others
  • Up to 25% travel, excluding local field visits
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
