About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Report directly to the Vice President, General Counsel
  • Provide legal counsel and risk management services for the company
  • Advise and represent the company in legal matters and transactions
  • Identify and creatively address potential legal issues and support the company’s strategic plan
  • Prepare and negotiate design and construction agreements, confidentiality agreements, leases, joint venture/teaming agreements, supply/procurement contracts, and IP/license agreements
  • Counsel on complex risk management, dispute resolution, and project management issues
  • Resolve issues arising during project development
  • Oversee outside counsel and manage disputes and litigation, including negotiated resolutions
  • Prepare and conduct legal and risk management training sessions
  • Advise and oversee corporate transactional matters, including stock programs and acquisitions
  • Assist with business decision-making, including evaluating opportunities, budgeting, and hiring practices
  • Evaluate licensure and labor requirements and ensure company compliance
  • Help define and develop corporate policies, procedures, and programs
  • Provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and their business implications

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • JD with admission to state bar
  • Minimum 5 years of firm or in-house experience
  • Litigation and transactional experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Federal contracting, union/labor relations and corporate compliance/governance a plus
  • Experience representing EPC contractors on renewables projects preferred
  • Experience representing contractors on public projects preferred
  • Experience representing contractors on hospital projects preferred
  • Strong analytical and legal skills
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, staff, vendors, clients, and others
  • Ability to understand business needs and partner with the business to create solutions
  • Strong understanding of the interplay between legal and business risk
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements
  • Willingness/ability to travel 10%
