About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the Project Manager’s technical representative and a technical resource for QC Managers and Site Superintendents
- Provide senior-level issue expediting, field technical support, startup technical support, and commissioning technical oversight
- Design and develop intra-switchgear and inter-equipment control systems
- Design and develop site-wide Sequence of Operation (SOO)
- Coordinate with vendors, review submittals, and conduct factory witness tests
- Ensure equipment is produced to specification and conforms with design-build requirements
- Design and develop safety mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical interlock systems
- Design and develop system-wide automation systems using PLC or RTAC-style industrial controllers
- Develop overload prevention, busway interlocks, load management, generator load curtailment, generator start/load controls, selective load pickup, and load-shed systems
- Design and develop SEL/ABB/Siemens relay protection and logic settings, including MTM transfer schemes
- Design and develop SEL/ABB/Siemens relay IEC 61850-based protection and control logic
- Develop metering/triggering systems for power-system analysis
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 8+ years of engineering design experience in electrical power systems
- PE required
- Understanding of power systems and power system failure analysis, event analysis, or SOE analysis
- Understanding of electrical power systems including generators, transformers, motors, automated switchgear, protective relays, UPS systems, DRUPS systems, motor-generator sets, battery storage systems, inverters, PV systems, wind turbines, and substation equipment
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, vendors, clients, and others
- Willingness to travel up to 50%
