About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Prepare and complete bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects
Serve as Lead Estimator for projects and work with Estimators, suppliers, and customers to complete estimates
Prepare estimates from quantity take-offs through computer printouts
Identify project elements critical to developing competitive estimates
Review proposal specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope and estimate contents
Evaluate potential value-engineering cost savings
Lead personnel preparing discipline sub-estimates for assigned bids
Maintain working documents and data supporting estimate figures
Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs using projected site conditions and historical data
Prepare detailed material and equipment listings and obtain quotes
Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors, solicit quotes, and review them for completeness and conformance
Complete client-required documents on time
Draft scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects
Review scope, technical requirements, and pricing with the Chief Estimator before issuing formal bid packages
Meet with Project Management after successful bids to explain job scope and support project turnover
Maintain estimate files and update the Rosendin-approved estimating program

Requirements

What you’ll need

Read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings
Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
Estimate all types of projects and coordinate and supervise group work effort
Mentor and assist with the development of Estimators
Identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements
Oral and written communication skills as required for the position
Self-motivated, proactive, and effective team player
Interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, vendors, clients, and others
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 4 years’ estimating or other relevant experience in closing construction estimates
Experience in Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred
Experience in CAD or 3D software preferred
Combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered
Up to 10% travel
