About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Facilitate end-to-end onboarding and contracting of European suppliers and vendors, from identification through contract execution and procure-to-pay management
  • Prepare and manage vendor screening, information gathering, selection processes, and onboarding in company systems
  • Build and maintain stakeholder mapping, evaluation criteria, and vendor profiles
  • Design and refine scalable onboarding processes while tracking cycle times
  • Support source-to-pay execution, including supplier onboarding, system setup, requisitions, purchase orders, invoice/payment issue escalation, and procurement-system compliance
  • Mediate between US and European business cultures and translate Miami procurement processes for European suppliers and colleagues
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Basel Operations, Procurement, and Legal on vendor and contracting activity
  • Serve as a key contact for suppliers, vendors, Miami teams, and Basel teams across time zones
  • Coordinate contract lifecycle activities, including intake, routing, approvals, amendments, renewals, expiration monitoring, and documentation
  • Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and contractual conditions with European suppliers
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies supporting operational readiness, scalability, service excellence, and cost efficiency
  • Support supply chain activities from sourcing through delivery readiness
  • Develop strategic supplier relationships and monitor contractual, service, and performance requirements
  • Drive supplier continuous improvement, governance, risk mitigation, compliance, and process automation
  • Build and report a value creation pipeline covering savings, cost avoidance, commercial terms, demand management, process efficiencies, and supplier innovation
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, approval authorities, due diligence, competitive bidding, documentation, and ethical sourcing requirements
  • Provide European river-cruise market intelligence, benchmarking, and analysis to Miami Procurement leadership
  • Monitor economic, geopolitical, and supply-chain developments affecting supplier availability, pricing, and continuity
  • Operate as an embedded member of the Basel office while maintaining a functional reporting relationship with Miami Indirect Procurement
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, spend analysis, procurement KPI tracking, supplier performance reporting, and recommendations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated purchasing / procurement background, ideally including vendor sourcing, screening, contracting, and onboarding
  • Proven negotiating capabilities with external suppliers and vendors, including commercial and contractual terms
  • Experience handling supply chain end to end processes, from supplier identification through operational readiness
  • Strong background in European geography, with specific knowledge of the waterways of Europe and the river cruising industry and its stakeholders
  • Prior experience working across US and European business cultures, ideally in a role that required mediating between the two
  • Experience working within, or closely alongside, cross-functional teams spanning Product Development, Operations, Procurement, and Legal
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate commercial proposals and supplier business cases
  • Experience with procurement systems, supplier onboarding platforms, contract management tools, and ERP systems (S2P Suites like Oracle, SAP, Coupa)
  • Advanced Microsoft office and reporting skills
  • Knowledge of European procurement regulations and vendor due diligence practices preferred
  • Comfortable working remotely for a Miami-based department while embedded in a European (Basel) office environment
  • Proficiency in English and German
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance, Engineering or a related field required
  • Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management a plus
  • Strong team player who also works well independently, managing vendor pipelines and deadlines with limited oversight
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage stakeholder mapping, criteria sets, and vendor profiling processes rigorously
  • Skilled relationship-builder and communicator, comfortable engaging suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Growth-oriented Lead who contributes to and benefits from a supportive, collaborative office culture
  • Ability to perform regular sitting, standing, writing, computer use, communication, movement throughout office and shipboard environments, and potentially lift 10–25 pounds
