About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze, process, and monitor customs entries for compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal and external partners to support smooth import/export operations
  • Advise clients on customs requirements, OGD requirements, tariff classifications, CARM client portal, duty drawback, and other trade programs
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and point of contact for complex customs matters
  • Collaborate with internal departments on account setup, accounts payable and receivable, IT requests, and related operational tasks
  • Monitor customs laws, regulations, and the global trade landscape
  • Develop and update operational procedures for consistent and efficient service delivery
  • Guide junior staff and foster an inclusive, respectful team culture

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of experience in customs brokerage and trade compliance
  • Working experience with CARM, CERS, OGD portals
  • Strong knowledge of customs laws/regulations
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Experience with Cargowise or Descartes system
  • Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designation (preferred)
  • Experience with other trade programs including duty drawback and customs ruling (preferred)
  • Experience conducting compliance reviews and investigations (preferred)
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs (preferred)
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding or carrier operation (preferred)
  • May be required to pass a pre-employment drug test
