About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee all activities involving assigned projects and personnel within the team/region
- Work with the VP of Construction, field teams, and project teams
- Assist with hiring, training, evaluating, compensating, and terminating field staff
- Delegate responsibilities and monitor team workload, progress, productivity, and efficiency
- Support field operation action plans and personnel assignments
- Participate in client presentations and ongoing client contact programs
- Promote Ryan Companies to the public
- Assist project management and preconstruction with proposal-stage scheduling, logistics, and budgeting
- Review estimates for completeness and competitiveness
- Ensure consistent use of Ryan Tools, ethical standards, bidding practices, and management practices
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures
- Build a safety culture focused on Arc Flash, Lockout/Tagout, energized work, hazardous utility tie-ins, and heavy rigging/material deliveries
- Review project safety audits and provide monthly feedback to field leadership and site safety personnel
- Review and coordinate project schedules, milestone deliveries, weekly updates, and recovery schedules
- Apply CPM scheduling knowledge
- Maximize project profitability and ensure proper cost-control techniques
- Ensure communication and documentation between the Ryan office and field staff
- Ensure project meetings, quality management applications, inspections, and audits are completed
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule, on budget, and properly closed out
- Monitor punch-list completion, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Assist with subcontractor approval and monitoring
- Minimize warranty issues through reviews and management
- Develop and train employees on computer programs and professional skills
- Monitor regional union issues and assist with project labor agreements
- Communicate company policies and procedures
- Encourage and communicate new ideas to senior field leadership
- Participate in Field Manager/Field Coordinator meetings and special sector projects
- Mentor employees in leadership, scheduling, quality control, client relations, and safety
- Remain current on construction-industry developments and communicate them to team members
Requirements
What you’ll need- Position requires verification of employment to work in the U.S.
- 5–10 years of successful experience as a Senior Superintendent
- Proven track record delivering high-complexity, high-reliability projects, such as data centers, advanced technology facilities, healthcare central utility plants, or cleanrooms
- Direct experience overseeing complex, fast-track MEP installations
- Direct experience with high-voltage electrical distribution
- Direct experience with central cooling infrastructure
- Direct experience with Level 1–5 commissioning (Cx) processes
- Thorough, expert-level knowledge of every physical and logistical aspect of building projects
- Deep understanding of building automation systems (BAS)
- Deep understanding of critical power/cooling redundancy, including UPS, generators, and chillers
- Deep understanding of life safety controls
- Exceptional ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate effectively with large, diverse field teams and specialized subcontractors
- Strong professional sales ability, executive presence, and sensitivity to client operational needs
- Completed all required Field Coordinator training programs or equivalent industry certifications
- OSHA 30-Hour certification or equivalent high-level safety training is required
