About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate insurance claims to determine the extent of liability, loss, or damage covered by policies
- Gather information from policyholders, witnesses, and relevant sources
- Assess property, vehicle, and other insured-item damage through inspections, interviews, and documentation review
- Update claims management systems and document findings with photographs, written reports, and other evidence
- Review policies and interpret coverage limits, exclusions, deductibles, and policy language
- Communicate with claimants and witnesses, provide claim updates, explain coverage decisions, and resolve concerns
- Negotiate fair settlements within policy limits and identify potential fraud or misrepresentation
- Ensure compliance with insurance regulations, deadlines, claims procedures, and confidentiality requirements
- Provide customer service and manage policyholder expectations
- Provide technical expertise and advice related to incidents, claims matters, and loss prevention initiatives
- Deliver claims settlement and recovery outcomes for the business
- Stay current on industry developments, insurance laws, regulations, and claims-processing technology
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Legal, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum requirements for state specific Adjusting/Appraising/Examining/Investigating Licenses
- Preferred: Accredited Claims Adjuster (ACA)
- Preferred: Associate in Claims (AIC)
- Preferred: Certified Claims Professional (CCP)
- Preferred: Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR)
- Knowledge of insurance policies, coverage limits, exclusions, and deductibles
- Ability to investigate claims, assess damages, interpret policy language, and negotiate settlements
- Ability to comply with insurance regulations and company policies
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
