About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage all collection activities for a regionally assigned portfolio of accounts
  • Maintain communication with customers and maximize financial results by reducing Days Revenue Outstanding, delinquency over 30 days, and bad debt expense
  • Analyze and monitor portfolios to protect Ryder's financial interests
  • Decide when to cease services, forbid rental services, terminate fueling services, legally default delinquent customers, and enforce contract terms
  • Work with Operations Leadership, Rental Leadership, and Sales to coordinate actions and assign billing disputes
  • Participate in conference calls and meetings with Ryder senior leadership
  • Contact customers to solicit payments, negotiate service cessation, gather information on deductions and billing issues, remediate payment terms, and determine contract defaults
  • Analyze disputes and deductions involving rates, days, miles, subscriptions, damages, fees, insurance, licensing, taxes, purchase orders, repair orders, fee mark-ups, and special instructions
  • Identify root causes and close the loop with upstream partners
  • Provide Finance, Operations, Sales, and Rental leadership with receivables updates, bad debt forecasts, and dispute information
  • Participate in projects, committees, and focus groups related to Collections, Accounts Receivable, Customer Service, and Billing enhancements
  • Develop documentation and user manuals as directed
  • Mitigate losses, improve receivables metrics, and preserve customer relationships
  • Analyze financial, credit, and operational data to plan and execute collection strategies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • H.S. diploma/GED required
  • One (1) year or more in commercial collections required
  • Two (2) years or more in accounting/financial with the H.S. Diploma required
  • 0 to One (1) year in accounting/financial with the Associate's/Bachelor's degree required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial collections process at intermediate level required
  • MS Office Suite at intermediate level required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships across all organizational levels
  • Flexibility, self-drive, multitasking, organization, and time-management skills
  • Strong technical aptitude
