About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Follow up on purchased parts to ensure shipment and on-time delivery performance supporting production requirements
  • Serve as the main point of contact for suppliers
  • Provide suppliers direction on ship schedule requirements and containment plans when behind schedule
  • Make decisions on supplier ship schedules, including pushing material out, pulling ahead, and expediting material based on plant inventory coverage
  • Track critical parts and develop/execute containment plans to prevent manufacturing line interruptions or downtime
  • Decide on transportation mode and required delivery windows to ensure production continuity
  • Coordinate or arrange alternative material sources and spot buys when necessary
  • Monitor, set up, and cancel truck loads for material pickup as needed
  • Ensure material coverage at the lowest possible cost for the customer
  • Review part buffers against build requirements for Metal Centers and Powertrain
  • Document and manage S and AV code exceptions, including Alarm Interval maintenance
  • Determine root causes and take appropriate action
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels in MGO and make necessary adjustments
  • Investigate and process record adjustment requests from the previous shift
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • H.S. Diploma/GED, Required
  • Bachelor's Degree, Preferred
  • 1 year or more in administrative experience, Preferred
  • 1 year or more in relevant experience, Preferred
  • Knowledge of MGO (GM's MRP system), Intermediate, Preferred
  • Knowledge of transportation management, Intermediate, Preferred
  • Knowledge of material flow as it relates to manufacturing processes, Intermediate, Preferred
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization, Required
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, Required
  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment, Required
  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills, Required
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and communication skills, Required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, Required
  • Flexible work schedule, Required
  • Employee will be required to work additional hours and days as needed, on call as needed, and eligible for minimal overtime
