About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own and continuously improve quality strategy across the full software development lifecycle
Identify risks, control gaps, and testability concerns early to shift quality engineering toward defect prevention
Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable automated test frameworks for UI, API, data, integration, regression, and other testing areas
Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test suites based on requirements, technical specifications, business workflows, and customer usage
Drive risk-based testing for financial risk platforms, prioritising regulatory workflows, calculation accuracy, data integrity, security controls, system integration, and customer-critical journeys
Design and implement test automation using Java, Python, Selenium, Cucumber, Carina, and other technologies
Establish and monitor quality engineering standards and metrics
Integrate automated validation into CI/CD build, deployment, and release processes
Validate deployment readiness, rollback capability, observability, environment consistency, and non-functional requirements
Lead quality governance for agile teams and document acceptance criteria, test evidence, sign-offs, and release risks
Manage QA and UAT environments, deployments, test data, test execution, release planning, and testing sign-offs
Partner with Product, Engineering, DevOps, Architecture, Operations, and Customer Support to resolve quality issues
Collaborate with business stakeholders and clients to translate workflow complexity and customer needs into test coverage
Use AI and modern engineering practices for test generation, defect analysis, regression optimisation, log analysis, and test data creation
Mentor QA engineers and influence developers to build quality into their work
Perform gap analysis and define remediation plans
Balance manual and automated testing while moving toward automation-first quality engineering
Act as a technical leader and subject-matter expert, resolving issues, managing risks, and escalating concerns

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may also be considered
10 plus years of work experience across software quality engineering and end-to-end testing activities, including technical leadership or lead QA experience
Strong hands-on automation and white-box testing experience using Java, Python, or both
Experience designing and maintaining test automation frameworks using Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber, Carina, or equivalent web-testing frameworks
Experience with API and web services testing, including API automation frameworks
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software testing principles, test design techniques, and quality engineering practices
Experience with SQL and relational databases
Knowledge of PL/SQL, NoSQL databases, and Linux/UNIX environments is desirable
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and working with build and deployment processes
Understanding of performance, integration, regression, data, security, and non-functional testing practices
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively across cross-functional and geographically distributed agile teams
Ability to operate independently, take ownership, influence engineering decisions, and drive quality improvements
Preferred: experience with capital markets, financial risk analytics, counterparty credit risk, xVA, market risk, or related financial services platforms
Preferred: experience testing calculation-intensive, data-intensive, or regulatory applications
Preferred: knowledge of cloud-deployed applications, containers, microservices, messaging platforms, and distributed systems
Preferred: experience applying AI-enabled tools and modern engineering practices to improve testing efficiency
Preferred: experience establishing quality metrics, governance processes, and continuous improvement programmes
