About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support and promote the SAE Aerospace Standards program in Washington, DC
- Develop and maintain relationships with FAA, DoD, NASA, AIA, ALPA, A4A, GAMA, and other stakeholders
- Increase government and industry acceptance and use of SAE standards
- Identify opportunities in expanding and emerging technologies for standards development
- Coordinate assigned activities and committees for timely development of aerospace standards and related products and services
- Motivate and guide stakeholder leadership across government and industry partners
- Build and convert a pipeline of government-funded opportunities in emerging and high-growth technology areas
- Represent SAE International's aerospace standards interests in government and industry venues
- Support colleagues with Washington, DC-based activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10 years of experience in business and/or associations, including at least five years working with government agencies in Washington, DC, or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in public policy, engineering, or a related field
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Proven experience managing high-level stakeholder relationships
- Experience in the aerospace industry, operations, or regulatory environment
- Skilled at high-level government interface
- Skilled at engaging with industry organizations and associations
- Ability to organize, promote, and manage meetings and seminars
- Understanding of the consensus standards development process
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and standard office applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Ability to assimilate information and identify opportunities and challenges related to government and industry policy is preferred
- Strong understanding of government perspectives and aerospace industry perspectives is a plus
