About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide vehicle glass repair and replacement services at a Safelite Shop or Mobile Glass Shop efficiently, safely and with high quality and customer service
- Clean customer vehicles after every job
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostic testing
- Operate Safelite tools and technologies, including True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals, work order and customer administration systems, and Mobile Resource Management (MRM) technology
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles throughout the workday
- Communicate with scheduled customers in person, by text and phone
- Present, promote and sell Safelite promotional items and services
- Senior and Master Technicians serve as technical resources, support technician development, share best practices, and assist with coaching and mentoring
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Comply with all policies and standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED/Equivalent listed as preferred
- Technician: Typically 1+ years of vehicle glass installation, repair, replacement, recalibration, or closely related automotive service experience
- Senior Technician: Typically 3+ years of vehicle glass experience with demonstrated technical proficiency, quality performance, and independent operation
- Master Technician: Typically 5+ years of vehicle glass experience with advanced technical expertise and demonstrated mentoring, coaching, or training capability
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in tight spaces, bend and twist body
- Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with federal, state and local laws and agreement to be monitored via in-cab vehicle safety camera/video surveillance technology
- Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions and extreme temperatures
- Ability to work with chemicals, including flammable chemicals, as applicable
- Ability to work scheduled days with flexibility on start and end times
- Proficiency using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations and troubleshooting
- Problem-solving ability and ability to troubleshoot independently and collaboratively
- Ability to read, write and interpret English and technical directions
- Oral and written communication ability via phone, computer or electronic means
- Ability to maintain professional appearance and follow uniform and PPE policies
- Willingness and ability to maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition
- Preferred: passion for craftsmanship and quality work
- Preferred: interest in emerging vehicle technology and ADAS systems
- Preferred: desire to continue growing within the trade
- Preferred: interest in mentoring others for Senior and Master levels
