About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Verify and document health plan travel authorizations
- Request and secure pre-approvals
- Confirm authorization details with medical facilities
- Provide clear, compassionate communications about authorizations, approved providers, and denials
- Deliver timely documentation to members and health plans
- Build and maintain positive partnerships with approval teams at each health plan
- Maintain accurate, detailed records in alignment with compliance requirements
- Meet departmental performance standards while maintaining exceptional service quality and member satisfaction
- Adapt to changes in travel schedules and unforeseen circumstances while prioritizing members’ needs
- Manage end-to-end travel logistics for members traveling for medical care
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members, health plans, and vendors
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year experience in Authorization coordination or similar logistics-based role
- 1+ year experience in a high-volume inbound call center or customer service environment
- Strong data entry skills
- Ability to manage high call volume and multitask in a fast-paced setting
- Knowledge of cost tracking, budgeting, or service expense management
- Typing speed of at least 35 WPM
- Familiarity with Medicaid NEMT guidelines
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure
- High emotional intelligence and empathy when supporting vulnerable populations
- Excellent verbal and written communication across phone, email, and documentation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with health plans, vendors, and internal teams
- Cultural competence and sensitivity in working with diverse populations
- Strong organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines consistently
