About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems throughout the venue
- Ensure facility spaces, equipment, and utilities are fully functional and event-ready
- Respond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot issues and document all repairs
- Assist with setup, breakdown, and operational needs for concerts, games, and special events
- Move equipment and make facility adjustments
- Monitor building safety and report hazards
- Ensure compliance with facility standards, codes, and preventive maintenance schedules
- Maintain a safe, functional, and event-ready environment at Mesa Convention Center
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical or vocational training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or related fields preferred
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or a similar technician role
- Experience in a venue, arena, or stadium environment is a plus
- Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems
- Ability to safely use tools and equipment
- Experience reading work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, event-driven environment with shifting priorities
- Solid communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with team members, vendors, and event staff
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as needed
- Ability to work at heights or in tight spaces
- Strong attention to detail
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and fully functional facility
- Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
