About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of venue operations, including Engineering, Building & Grounds, Technical Services, Public Safety, Security, Custodial Services, and Parking
  • Coordinate operational activities with internal departments, promoters, clients, and third-party vendors
  • Ensure facility readiness and successful execution of all events
  • Establish and maintain operational standards, policies, and procedures
  • Oversee maintenance and integrity of the physical plant, systems, equipment, and infrastructure
  • Lead annual operating and capital budgets and long-term planning for repairs and improvements
  • Drive safety compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, OSHA, and fire/life safety standards
  • Partner with the General Manager and ownership group on operational strategy, capital planning, and long-term venue performance
  • Monitor operational, event execution, and guest experience KPIs
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support conventions, concerts, and outdoor programming
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in venue, facility, or event operations within arenas, convention centers, amphitheaters, or similar environments
  • 3–5+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Experience overseeing large-scale live events, including conventions, concerts, and multi-day programs
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, including management
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Ability to learn Maintenance Manager software
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member
  • Ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work on site in Mesa, AZ
