About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise staff and oversee all aspects of facility operations related to events
- Meet with client groups to plan and organize assigned meetings and events
- Coordinate activities with service contractors for assigned meetings and events
- Guide clients in preparing events by interpreting and explaining contract provisions, policies, and procedures
- Keep clients informed about deadline schedules, including floor plan submissions, meeting room setup specifications, insurance requirements, and other relevant details
- Prepare cost estimates and monitor final billing
- Communicate detailed requirements to operational departments
- Assist in scheduling operational setups for equipment and service needs
- Monitor and supervise facility setup when necessary
- Assist in training Event Services staff
- Serve as primary liaison between clients and facility departments
- Monitor in-house events and maintain close contact with clients and facility staff
- Follow up on client requests, concerns, and problems
- Attend planning, organization, and event/facility meetings
- Serve as manager on duty as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
- Minimum of two years management level experience coordinating events in a multi-purpose facility serving conventions, exhibits, trade and consumer shows, athletic events, concerts, sales meetings, and food and beverage functions in a convention center or major hotel
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Working knowledge of the principles of facility management, services, and equipment for a similar facility
- Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional written and verbal skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects
- Problem-solving and communication skills
- Supervisory experience required
- Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
- Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
