About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct a comprehensive inventory and assessment of Navy environmental data assets
  • Modify and/or convert data assets into Navy-compliant geospatial data layers
  • Work with Environmental Compliance, Cultural Resources, Natural Resources, and Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) datasets
  • Plan, execute, and document project tasks in a collaborative team environment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years or more of relevant experience; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Hands-on experience working with Esri software, specifically ArcGIS Pro
  • Demonstrated experience converting multiple data types, including non-geospatial tabular data and CAD files, into standardized geospatial formats
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document methods and findings
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple datasets, tasks, and deadlines in a team environment
  • Development of Python scripts to increase efficiency and automate routine data inventory and development processes
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust
  • Desired: Experience with Navy geospatial data standards, including the SDSFIE data model
  • Desired: Experience with Environmental, Cultural Resources, Natural Resources, and Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) GIS data
  • Desired: Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools
  • Desired: Experience performing data validation and quality control checks using RBJ files and/or Python scripts
