About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support NASA’s Moon Base program by providing technical support for exploration systems
- Assure communications and tracking Moon Base design, hazards, proposed operations, and verifications comply with applicable Safety and Mission Assurance requirements
- Review and comment on Safety Data Packages, hazard reports and analyses, integrated hazard reports, non-compliance reports, and other safety data deliverables
- Provide technical expertise to SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMs, and critical contingency EVA pre-failure analyses
- Perform technical and requirements compliance assessments of development products and special risk assessments
- Evaluate end-to-end link robustness across emerging Moon Base communications architectures
- Ensure tracking and navigation systems meet safety-critical accuracy, redundancy, and fault-tolerance requirements
- Collaborate with systems engineering, mission operations, and network providers to assess risks and verify mitigations
- Review test plans, verification reports, and requirements for compliance with NASA safety, reliability, and standards
- Support anomaly resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective action development for communications and tracking failures
- Monitor communications and tracking hardware for degraded performance or reliability concerns
- Review reliability predictions, hazard analyses, safety assessments, and verification matrices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Aerospace, Safety Engineering, or related discipline
- Basic knowledge and use of personal computers with typical business software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory
- Must be able to travel (minimal) and work shifts periodically
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
