About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as the pilot and other controllers in an air traffic control training simulator.
- Operate simulated radar displays and voice communication systems during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises.
- Simulate pilot actions and remote ATC facility communications.
- Receive voice commands from students and input appropriate entries into the automated system.
- Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
- Respond to students through the voice communication system using proper phraseology.
- Complete Classroom certification by passing a test on airspace and procedures.
- Complete Lab certification by performing as a Remote Pilot Operator in all positions.
- Support FAA air traffic controller training services through SAIC Controller Training Solutions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent).
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret materials such as diagrams and manuals.
- Ability to speak clearly and be understood.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team is desired.
- Experience and certification in ATC Tower, TRACON or En Route simulation lab is strongly desired, but not required.
- Effective oral and written communications skills are desired.
- Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 is strongly desired, but not required.
- Effective team building skills are desired.
- MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) is desired.
- Basic familiarization of current technology tools (tablets, notebooks, applications, etc.) is desired.
- Basic familiarization or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology is desired.
