About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate as the pilot and other controllers in an air traffic control training simulator
  • Operate simulated radar displays and voice communication systems
  • Simulate pilot actions and communications from remote ATC facilities during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises
  • Receive voice commands from students
  • Enter proper data into automated systems to simulate pilot actions
  • Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology
  • Respond to students via the voice communication system using proper phraseology
  • Complete Classroom certification by passing a test on airspace and procedures
  • Complete Lab certification by performing as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions
  • Support air traffic controller training services for the FAA at Raleigh-Durham International ATCT

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams and manuals
  • Ability to speak clearly and be understood
  • US Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team is desired
  • Experience and certification in ATC Tower, TRACON or En Route simulation lab is strongly desired, but not required
  • Effective oral and written communications skills
  • Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 is strongly desired, but not required
  • Effective team building skills
  • MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Basic familiarity with current technology tools, including tablets, notebooks, and applications
  • Basic familiarity or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology
