About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform independent verification and validation (IV&V) of ERIS programming modifications and enhancements across IBM mainframe and Linux-based environments
Plan, execute, and document testing for each January software release and additional modifications throughout the year
Test software and processes as ERIS components transition from mainframe to Linux/SAP Data Services
Certify software configurations and verify proper deployment of application components
Review and validate statistics outputs for accuracy and consistency
Conduct ad hoc investigations into data transformation and replication activities; analyze data anomalies and recommend remediation
Perform post-production validation, including review of production statistics reports and verification of results for each production run
Execute segmentation testing for specific data segments or business populations
Test ERIS reports and stored procedures on the Compliance Data Warehouse impacted by annual and in-year changes
Develop and execute system test plans, test cases, and test scripts for data validation and functional verification
Document test results, defects, and issues; track defects through resolution
Collaborate with developers, data engineers, database administrators, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, understand changes, and validate outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need

BS and 5 years of overall experience (4 years experience in lieu of degree)
Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust requiring U.S. Citizenship or Green Card
Experience with SQL and SAP Data Services ETL scripts (Extract, Transform, Load)
Experience running data extracts in DB2, including creating tables and extracting data
Basic knowledge of COBOL, including ability to read and write simple COBOL programs
Knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language) for data extraction and sorting
Knowledge of IBM utilities such as SORT and IEBGENER
Knowledge of FTP for data transfer and file movement
Knowledge of Python, including ability to read and understand code
Experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications: Excel, SharePoint, Word, and Access
Hands-on experience performing system testing activities, including writing system test plans, developing data validation processes, executing system test cases and/or scripts, and documenting system defects and test results
Desired: Experience with IRS, federal financial, or large-scale revenue/financial systems
Desired: Familiarity with Sybase IQ or similar columnar database technologies
Desired: Experience working on modernization or migration projects from mainframe to open systems
Desired: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills related to data quality and data transformation
Desired: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
