About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as the pilot and other controllers in an air traffic controller training simulator.
  • Operate simulated radar displays and voice communication systems during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises.
  • Simulate pilot actions and communications from remote ATC facilities.
  • Receive voice commands from students and enter appropriate data into the automated system.
  • Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
  • Respond to students through the voice communication system using proper phraseology.
  • Complete Classroom certification by passing a test on airspace and procedures.
  • Complete Lab certification by performing as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions.
  • Support FAA air traffic controller training services at the San Juan CERAP.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to read and interpret materials such as diagrams and manuals.
  • Ability to speak clearly and be understood.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Basic familiarization with current technologic tools (tablets, notebooks, applications, etc.).
  • Basic familiarization or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology.
  • ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation lab experience and certification are strongly desired but not required.
  • Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 is strongly desired but not required.
  • Ability to obtain the required Classroom and Lab certifications.
