Key responsibilities & impact

Participate in system architecture design, development, integration testing, validation, and all aspects of the software life cycle for a Java backend application involving messaging and transaction processing
Design and develop Java code according to project requirements
Work with and mentor junior team members
Learn and follow continuous integration, automated unit testing, and Agile practices using the team’s tools
Diagnose and fix issues in existing application components as part of maintenance
Design, implement, and unit test REST microservices using Java, Spring, and JUnit
Develop Angular web applications that communicate with backend microservices
Write complex SQL queries and perform data modeling
Work closely with the tech lead and senior developers

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering field with 5+ years of related technical experience
At least 5 years of strong Java JEE design and software development experience, including designing, developing, and documenting large-scale enterprise software systems
At least 5 years of working with cloud applications utilizing serverless hosted services such as AWS Lambda
Java web application development
Experience with Java 21, Spring, Angular, microservices architecture, Docker/Kubernetes containers, AWS, XML message building and parsing, and PostgreSQL
Strong SQL skills, including critical debugging and plan analysis
Experience with UI development using JavaScript/TypeScript
Extensive skills in JDBC/JPA/Hibernate
Knowledge of standard design patterns
Expertise in software engineering practices, including software specifications, design patterns, and continuous integration
Experience with GitLab, JIRA, and Jenkins for CI/CD
Ability to obtain and hold a public trust position and favorable suitability based on a CBP Background Investigation
Must be a US Citizen
