About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Initiate, supervise, and/or develop requirements from project inception through conclusion for complex programs
  • Provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to program and project staff
  • Analyze, evaluate, and recommend improvements, optimization development, and maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission-critical challenges
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on development and implementation of commercial cloud solution architectures
  • Modernize customer cloud architecture, deployment, and usage with a focus on security, scalability, and resiliency
  • Plan, design, and manage migration, re-platforming, integration, implementation, and operation of complex cloud environments
  • Communicate, define, administer, and implement security processes and assist with platform transformation
  • Ensure commercial cloud service offerings adhere to DoD Cloud Computing policy and guidelines
  • Provide information for hardware, software, and cloud service provider selection, implementation techniques, data migration techniques, tools, and capacity requirements
  • Develop and conduct testing of cloud and virtualization systems
  • Maintain technical expertise in cloud computing, virtualization technologies, cloud deployment and service delivery models, automation, hypervisors, containers, virtual infrastructure, self-provisioning, and scaling
  • Evaluate and report on new cloud and virtualization technologies
  • Participate with senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives
  • Design and implement secure, scalable cloud infrastructure supporting enterprise data platforms, shared data services, analytics workloads, and AI/ML development environments
  • Collaborate with software engineering, data engineering, and data science teams to align cloud architectures with enterprise data strategy, governance, security, and operational requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree and fourteen (14) years or more experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance to start
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance after start
  • Process requirements from government customer and prioritize taskings based on government direction and timelines
  • Proven track record as a cloud architect designing and deploying cloud solutions
  • Expertise in Active Directory design and maintenance
  • In-depth experience with AWS, networking, VPNs, IaaS, and PaaS
  • Experience with IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services, including compute, storage, network, security, administration, automation, application services, and databases
  • Ability to use Git, YML, and AWS security capabilities including WAF, GuardDuty, Security Groups, and IAM
  • Knowledge of an IT Service Management (ITSM) tool suite
  • Experience with AWS WorkSpaces or deploying VDI solutions to AWS Cloud
  • Configuration and change management experience with a government customer
  • In-depth troubleshooting experience
  • Experience writing SSM documents in JSON/YAML
  • Experience writing, testing, and deploying CloudFormation templates
  • Understanding of enterprise data architectures, data engineering, analytics, and AI enablement principles
  • Master’s degree and 10 or more years of experience (desired)
  • AWS Cloud Solutions Architect Professional Certification (desired)
  • Fluency with multiple scripting languages (desired)
  • AWS networking experience with site-to-site VPNs, Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect (desired)
  • Knowledge of BGP routing in a DoD environment (desired)
  • Familiarity with DNS in AWS GovCloud using Route 53; DISA Iodyn knowledge is a plus (desired)
  • Proficiency with DevOps tools including Docker, Kubernetes, Harbor, ECS, EKS, Fargate, GitLab CI, and Artifactory (desired)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code methodologies and tools (desired)
  • Expertise creating and executing CI/CD pipelines (desired)
